About Us

Performing as the acoustic duo Blackbird, Ben and Sarah Myers combine two voices and multiple instruments in their exploration of music spanning the centuries from early Celtic to the American folk revival. Ben plays bouzouki and mandolin, and Sarah performs on several types of flutes and whistles, autoharp, and percussion. Taking inspiration from folk traditions and the stories behind the music, Blackbird performs in a variety of venues and enjoys playing for all types of events year-round.   Ben Myers - Bouzouki, Mandolin, Vocals
Ben has been playing music since the age of 5 on violin, trumpet, mandolin, and currently bouzouki and vocals and has studied music extensively in college and beyond. Ben has performed in a variety of music settings including jazz, classical, ska, bluegrass, folk, and Celtic.

  Sarah Myers - Flutes, Whistles, Autoharp, Vocals
Sarah has also been playing music since the age of 5, first on piano and singing and then on flute. She became inspired by the flautists James Galway and Jean Pierre Rampal and started playing flute at age 9, continuing her studies through high school, college and beyond. Sarah has performed in orchestras, chamber music groups, and duos. Her love of Celtic and folk-inspired music began over 20 years ago and continues today.

Ben and Sarah are almuni of the University of Northern Colorado, School of Music and have been performing together since 1993.
